I use supervised and semi-supervised data-centric machine learning for prediction in the geosciences, with a focus on short-term rain forecasting. I am particularly interested in developing new loss functions to control which aspects of the predicted quantity are emphasized during training, in order to better capture forecast uncertainty, stochasticity and extreme events.
