My PhD work at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon is concerned with the investigation of the distribution and fate of emerging pollutants in the river systems and the coastal environment. In this context, my research focuses mainly on the role of so-called technologically critical elements (TCE), which are under discussion as potential emerging inorganic contaminants. Despite their strongly growing application and importance for various high tech products and important key technologies, little information is available about their occurrence, distribution and fate as well as on possible impact on the environment.
My research interests in the field of environmental and analytical chemistry cover the following areas:
- Investigation of the occurrence , distribution and fate of technologically critical Elements (TCE) in the aquatic and marine environment
- Analysis of emerging pollutants
- Isotope analysis
- Multi element analysis
- ICP-MS/MS Techniques
