Biological Characterisation
The “Biological Characterization” department investigates the impact of magnesium materials degradation processes on the biological response at the molecular and cellular level. This is meant to identify the key elements for the biological functionality of an implant in order to control and target the therapeutical effect with respect to physicochemical and mechanical properties of the implant. For this purpose, it is necessary to study complex in vitro models that contain different cells types. In this way, we can assess how metallic biomaterial degradation affects tissue regeneration under physiological and pathological conditions.
