Imaging and Data Science

In order to develop novel magnesium implants, the material behavior both under laboratory conditions and in the body itself must be analyzed comprehensively. Thus, the impact of various factors can be predicted, even for future developments. In situ experiments with brilliant Synchrotron radiation play a central role for these analyses. The “Imaging and Data Science” department develops advanced experiment setups for this purpose as well as automated algorithms that facilitate efficient evaluation of the measured data. These data are linked to computer-based models to gain an in-depth understanding of the material behavior and the body reaction. This provides important information for transferring implants to the clinical realm.
