Self-Assembly and Functional Nanostructures
The aim of the department is the development of block copolymer membranes and functionalized nanofibers for specific material separations, chemical reactions and sensor platforms in aqueous systems.
The main research areas include the formation of nanostructures and the further development of the design of novel membranes with regular pore structures and of nanofibers that are built up by self-organizing materials and whose properties are specifically tailored, e.g. by incorporating stimuli-responsive components into the pores or onto the nanofibers .
Model-based computer simulations contribute to a fundamental understanding of structure formation and the properties of these membranes and nanofibers.
