Instrumental Structure Analysis

The morphology of membranes determines their properties and thus their potential in sustainable components and separation processes. In our department, the membrane structure is visualized with imaging methods using light, electron (SEM, TEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). These are supplemented by the spatially resolved analysis of the composition using EDX, EELS and Raman microscopy. The multi-dimensional imaging serves to virtualize reality. The image data are evaluated using methods of artificial intelligence in connection with synthesis, production and performance data in order to obtain a holistic understanding of the process-structure-property relationships.
