Dr. Dietmar Letzig
The effective implementation of the social goals of climate neutrality and energy efficiency for lightweight applications in transportation industries requires a targeted, material-oriented process design. Through a cross-scale understanding by means of metal-physical, experimental and virtual methods of thermomechanical treatment (e.g. extrusion, rolling processes, twin-roll casting, sheet metal forming) and interface properties, a microstructure design is achieved that leads to a targeted property design.
In addition, the cooperation with the “Hybrid Materials and Processes” department offers innovative opportunities to open up expanded and new fields of application in the area of metallic lightweight construction materials and metallic biomaterials.
