Valentin Volland studied Environmental Sciences (B.Sc.) at Leuphana University in Lüneburg and wrote his bachelor thesis on cultural ecosystem services. After an internship in the Department of Human Dimensions of Coastal Areas at the Helmholtz Center hereon, he started studying Regional Development and Nature Conservation (M.Sc.) at the University for Sustainable Development Eberswalde in 2019. Here he focused on strategies and management in nature conservation. In August 2021, he started working as a student assistant in the department of socioeconomics of the coastal zone and wrote his master's thesis on conflicts and perceptions in the Tidal Elbe as part of the Land2Sea project. After completing his master's degree, he continued his work at Hereon as a research assistant from June 2022.
