A thematic network for promoting best practice industrial application of Finite Element Technology

FENET

Project timeline
Start:
August 2001
Duration:
48 months
End:
July 2005
General Information
The broad objectives of FENET can be summarised as follows: To improve the quality and effectiveness of finite element applications in industry; To promote technology and knowledge transfer between industries; To improve understanding of industry's finite element related RTD needs in academia and research organisations.

The detailed objectives are: To assemble and collate best practice information for the industrial application of finite element and related technologies and promote these widely in European industry (e.g. guidelines for best practice & how to guides, as part of a programme of continuous professional development); To improve uptake of latest finite element technology RTD results in industry (e.g. technical benchmarks, Web based learning, certification of engineers, accreditation for courses etc.); To identify gaps in existing knowledge and stimulate new consortia and projects for EC support (e.g.state of the art reviews).
