I use numerical models, oceanographic data and geological data to investigate how natural processes and human activities influence the properties of the seafloor. Having worked mainly on the northwestern European shelf (North and Baltic Sea), my research aims to answer questions such as “How do short-term events like storms and floods affect the morphology of the seafloor from days to millennia?” and “What effects do bottom-trawl fishing and sand mining have on the sequestration and export of organic carbon in the ocean?”
Since 07/2021 Scientist (postdoc) at Institute of Coastal Systems, Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon

2011 - 2017 MSc and BSc in Geophysics at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)
