Our colleague Prof Daniela Jacob, Director of the Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS) in Hamburg, was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the "German Renewables Award 2022" ceremony on Wednesday. The laudatory speech for the award winner and her special life's work was held by Prof Dr Hartmut Graßl. Daniela Jacob has, among other things, advanced regional climate modeling worldwide and co-created climate services and prototype products for adaptation to the consequences of climate change. She was also the Coordinating Lead Author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's (IPCC) Special Report on 1.5 Degrees C Global Warming. At the ceremony in Altonaer Kaispeicher, the "Cluster Erneuerbare Energien Hamburg" honored outstanding innovations as well as personal commitment to renewable energies with awards in a total of six categories.
