International recognition for outstanding magnesium research at Hereon

Award for Innovative Research on Magnesium Corrosion Protection

Prof. Mikhail Zheludkevich and Prof. Yuanding Huang from Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon have received the “Special Contribution on Innovation of the Year (2025)” award for their outstanding research and development achievements.

The award recognizes their pioneering work on the development of innovative corrosion protection strategies and the targeted optimization of the properties of magnesium and magnesium alloys. Through their research, both scientists are making an important contribution to unlocking the potential of magnesium as a lightweight and versatile material for future applications.
