Transformation of Delta5 to DeltaBS and J
CTOD Delta5 is a displacement of points located 2.5 mm above and below crack tip at the specimen surface.
Java applet below transforms CTOD Delta5 to CTOD DeltaBS and J-integral for CT and 3PB specimens (B/W = 0.5, a/W = 0.55).
Select specimen type, per cent of side grooves, crack curvature Alpha and hardening power n. Specify elasticity modulus E (MPa) and yield stress Sy (MPa).
Then specify Delta5 (mm) and press ENTER. Each time you do this you have a line with three numbers: Delta5 (mm), DeltaBS (mm) and J/(2Sy) (mm).
