The Pelagic Imaging Consortium (PIC - https://connect.helmholtz-imaging.de/lab/94 ) brings together scientists from different Helmholtz centers who are interested in imaging all types of particles and plankton in the ocean. Pelagic imaging describes the study of the ecosystem of thepelagic zone using images. Examples of this include studying the growth and abundance of different plankton species in the ocean to gain deeper insights into their contribution to the oceanic carbon cycle.
