DTO-BioFlow

Data for the Digital Twin of the Ocean

We provide our data for the Digital Twin of the Ocean to support the development of biodiversity indicators for the state of ecosystems.

The DTO-Bioflow project aims at creating new biodiversity knowledge and integrating existing European and global biodiversity data into the “Digital Twin of the Ocean” (DTO). The Biological Carbon Pump Department contributes to this initiative by facilitating the integration of their Underwater Observatory monitoring data into the EcoTaxa, EMODnet and OBIS databases and eventually into the DTO data lake. The incorporation of in-situ image data into global databases and the DTO will enable the development of biodiversity indicators for assessing the state of ecosystems and thus provide policy makers with important assessments of the state of the oceans.
