Mangroves as Nature based Solutions to Coastal Hazards in Eastern Ghana - MANCOGA

MANCOGA aims to use mangroves for developing a robust and participatory Nature-based Solution (NbS) to reduce coastal hazards (such as climate change, flooding, coastal erosion and pollution) along Ghana’s east coast.

MANCOGA aims to use mangroves for developing a robust and participatory Nature-based Solution (NbS) to reduce coastal hazards (such as climate change, flooding, coastal erosion and pollution) along Ghana’s east coast. Employing a co-design approach, MANCOGA collaborates with stakeholders at multiple levels to gather and analyse existing data, identify gaps, and devise mechanisms for addressing them. Initially, the research questions for the implementation phase (since mid-2022) were specified in a nine-month co-design phase with great commitment from a wide range of Ghanaian stakeholders. MANCOGA is being implemented together with colleagues from the University of Ghana.
