Polymer workshop in Geesthacht: New forum for polymer experts
The Institute of Polymer Research at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht organises a workshop for scientists in industry and at universities on November 13th and 14th. An introduction into the mechanical and rheological properties of polymer materials and an extensive insight into the application methods of the rheology and mechanics of polymers in practice will be presented by experts from industry and research.

The two-day course is intended for users from industry and universities who are concerned with the production, processing and application of plastic materials and essentially deals with subjects based on practice related examples.
"For the production, processing and application of plastics are the mechanical and rheological properties of critical importance," says Dr. Ulrich Handge, head of department "Nanostructured Materials" of HZG. Rheology means the flow properties of materials, which are characterized by the viscosity, for example.
The aim of the event is to provide a comprehensive insight into the various methods of rheology and mechanics of polymers for the current practice.
The Institute of Polymer Research at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht organises the seminar in cooperation with the Anton Paar GmbH and the Department of Polymer Engineering at the University of Bayreuth.
