Erfurt became a stage for representatives from politics, art and culture. In close cooperation with the state chancelleries of Schleswig-Holstein and Brandenburg, our center participated in no less than two exhibits along the ''Ländermeile''; an open-air exhibition area reflecting the diversity of all 16 federal states.

„jwd – JEDER WILL DAHIN“

The state of Brandenburg presented itself with a five-meter-high installation. An oversized bird's nest was enthroned on its top, sending out the message: Whether starting a family or finding a job, Brandenburg offers perfect conditions for people to move. As an important driver of innovation in the region, research at Hereon was depicted with the 360-degree cube. In particular, visitors were able to discover the interdisciplinary research conducted at the Hereon-Institute of Active Polymers. The diverse research content is linked to the multimedia website Campus Teltow.

Together with the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research in Kiel, Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon in Geesthacht and Kiel Marine Science (KMS), Center for Interdisciplinary Marine Sciences at Christian Albrechts University (CAU), three institutions from Schleswig-Holstein displayed their research in an exhibition cube. From sustainable fisheries, garbage in the sea, ammunition remnants recovered from the sea, research on land use conflicts on the North Sea coast, measuring instruments for ocean observation and remote sensing, a miniature offshore wind turbine to climate outlooks for the different counties in Germany, there was a lot to discover.

The celebrations of the next German Reunification Day will take place in Hamburg on 2 and 3 October 2022.
